Stem Zero and Ghost Zero Care Instructions

First of all its important to know that all Stem-Zero stemware items have been independently certified dishwasher safe for up to 2000 industrial dishwashing cycles* as long as the given instructions below are followed. You can freely wash your glasses in your domestic or industrial dishwashers unless otherwise stated by use and care instructions of your items.

Water hardness

The quality of the water, especially water hardness, plays a major role during dishwashing. Very soft water causes corrosion (deformation on the glass surface) problems, while very hard water deposits on the surface of the glass.

It is recommended not to wash glassware with very soft water which has hardness value less than 4°dH (German Hardness).

If the water hardness is less than 6°dH, powder or tablet (without salt) detergents should be used and salt should not be used.

If the water hardness is higher than 6°dH, your dishwasher producer may recommend to use salt or water softener.

If you use salt, the amount of salt should be set at a level which will not decrease water hardness below 4°dH by your dishwasher service. But if you use salt in dishwasher, tablet detergents, which do not contain salt, should be used.

If you use water softener, please ensure that your water experts should set the water softener at a level which will not decrease water hardness below 4°dH.

Detergent and Rinse Aid

Dishwasher detergent formulation has a significant effect on dishwasher resistance of glassware products. The detergent and rinse aid should be used at right amounts and they should be compatible with the water hardness, thus, after dishwashing, glassware products can be hygienic, clean and gleaming.

Dirty glasses should not be rinsed with water and should be put into the dishwasher only by scraping the excessive residues. Otherwise, the detergent cannot
react with the dirt and this causes to scratching of the glassware surface.

When “eco-washing programs” are chosen, the amount of detergent should be reduced because of reduced amount of water. Otherwise, the excess of detergent can cause to scratching of the glassware surface. Likewise, if the dishwasher is not full, amount of detergent should be reduced.

In order to avoid the water spots and/or lime scale deposits on the glassware surface, the amount of rinse aid should be increased.

If the iridescent view occurs, the amount of detergentshould be reduced and rinse aid amount should be increased.

Some gel detergents are not effective to remove difficult stains and/or may cause yellowish color on the inner surface. Gel detergents which are not effective for cleaning should not be used.

After washing in the dishwasher, white spotsmight be
seen on glass product surface. If the spots are removed from the surface by wiping with a damp cloth it shows that there is an accumulation of detergent on the surface of the products. If white spots can be cleaned by wiping with damp cloth, the amount of detergent should be reduced and rinse aid amount should be increased.

Bleaching the glassware items with vinegar or similar acidic liquids may cause a cloudy corrosion appearance or irreversible iridescent view. Bleaching agents should not be used for cleaning of glass products.

Dishwashing operating terms

When placing the salt into the dishwasher, be careful not to spill out into the dishwasher. In case of spill, dishwasher should be cleaned before starting to washing. Spilled salts may cause corrosion of glassware.

Glassware should not be washed together with the products which contains aluminum. If aluminumcontaining materials exist during dishwashing, aluminum can be dissolved in the washing water. The aluminum in
washing water causes corrosion of glass. Moreover, the detergents which contain aluminum have a negative impact on glassware products.

Glassware products should not be washed together with wood, iron, copper, silver etc. materials in dishwasher.

To prevent scratches and breakage, glassware (especially
tumblers) should be placed on the upper basket of dishwasher if available. For stemware products please provide a special stemware holder racks for more reliable standing within the dishwasher. Please note that, water circulation should not be prevented and the dishwasher
should not be overfilled.

For industrial dishwashers, please contact with your dishwasher supplier in order to select the best sized baskets for your glassware products.

Industrial dishwashers water tanks should be cleaned with fresh water around 10 cycle periods.

Temperature and duration effect

The ideal washing temperature for glassware is between 50°C to 65°C for washing. Too high temperatures may corrode or cause the breakage of glassware. However, the detergent may not be work effectively due to lower washing temperature.

Using instructions about temperature of your detergent should be taken into account.

Handwashing

Scourer side of sponges are not suitable for cleaning glassware. Scourer will cause scratching the surface of the glassware. If the glassware products which cleaned with sponges are placed in the dishwasher, scratches will become even more visible after dishwashing.

Please do not use cleaning powder or any similar abrasives for cleaning your products. Otherwise scratches might occur on glassware products.

Drying and polishing

Once your dishwasher cycle has finished, open the dishwasher to allow excess steam to be released.

After hand washing you can leave your glasses on a drying rack for a proper duration. Drying the inside well of your product will reduce water spots and helps for more shiny appearance.

Microfiber towels are recommended to be used for drying and polishing you products. Please ensure that the towel is clean and big enough to hold the glass and polish inside the bowl.

Polishing your glassware

While polishing of your stemware, first of all cover your hands with the towel and hold the base with both hands and gently wipe and rotate the glass around and then polish the stem with your one hand while the other one is holding the base. Later on, hold the bowl with one of your hand and ensure the stem is between your fingers.

Cover your other hand with the towel and hand polish the glass inside and outside with slow and gentle motions. You can gently use water steam if necessary.

Please do not apply excessive forces that may cause breakages and harmful accidents while handling your glassware.

Storing

The rim is the most delicate part of your glasses, it is recommended to store delicate glasses in the rim up position. However stemware hanging racks can be used for storing them upside-down to avoid from dust accumulation in them and prevent contact of rim and surfaces.

It is recommend to storing glassware in correctly sized compartment glass racks.

Avoid sudden impacts, humid environments such as a damp basement or attic.
