Ali Bakova

Ali Bakova is a Turkish industrial designer and educator based in Maslak, Istanbul — a district where creative studios and industrial workshops exist in close proximity, an environment that speaks directly to his practice. His work moves between the playful and the precise: a chair referencing the iconic Galata Bridge, a ceramic piece drawing from Iznik tile tradition, always anchored by a commitment to purity and smart functionality. Bakova is also one of Istanbul's most respected design educators, and in 2015 co-curated Atölye Maslak Maker Culture — an exhibition exploring small-scale artisanal production using 3D printing technology. His ability to distil cultural reference into essential form makes him a compelling voice in contemporary Turkish design.
