Erdem Akan

Erdem Akan is one of the most distinctive voices in Turkish design — a designer whose work synthesises East and West, tradition and contemporaneity, with rare fluency. Born in Istanbul in 1973 and educated in the United Kingdom, his practice spans interiors, products, and exhibition design, shaped equally by the organic complexity of Istanbul's streets and the purity of Scandinavian design. One of NUDE's longest-standing collaborators, designing for the brand since its inception, Akan approaches each piece as though creating it for himself — personal in sensibility, yet always aligned with NUDE's philosophy of contemporary simplicity. Neither nostalgic nor futuristic, his work is firmly rooted in the present: considered objects made precisely for the right now.
