The NUDE Memento Mori collection by the Istanbul-based designer, Ali Bakova, inspires to live life to the fullest. Crafted from faceted crystalline glass that catches the light in a prismatic fashion, this small black version features a semi-matte sandblasted finish, bringing a textural contrast to the range.

Crafted from Lead-free Crystal by hand, the Memento Mori Skull Bowl Smoke Small stands 3 1/4 inch tall with a lentgh of 5 inches and a depth of 5 2/7 inches. Care: Handwash recommended.

Ali Bakova

Ali Bakova is a Turkish industrial designer and educator based in Maslak, Istanbul, a district where creative studios and industrial workshops exist in close proximity, an environment that speaks directly to his practice. His work moves between the playful and the precise: a chair referencing the iconic Galata Bridge, a ceramic piece drawing from Iznik tile tradition, always anchored by a commitment to purity and smart functionality. Bakova is also one of Istanbul's most respected design educators, and in 2015 co-curated Atölye Maslak Maker Culture, an exhibition exploring small-scale artisanal production using 3D printing technology. His ability to distil cultural reference into essential form makes him a compelling voice in contemporary Turkish design.
